Pat Todd & The Rankoutsiders: Bio

The sound Pat Todd & The Rankoutsiders make is like the last 75 years of rock 'n' roll blues country punk and folk combined. Their music is both "younger than yesterday" and "older than the hills". A truly great band!

For over twenty years, THE LAZY COWGIRLS were the undisputed kings of Los Angeles underground Rock 'n' Roll, releasing countless singles and albums for labels such as Sympathy For the Record Industry, Crypt, Bomp!, and Gearhead. Wayne Coyne, of The Flaming Lips, called them an "American Institution". The Cowgirls may be no more, but their founder, vocalist and songwriter, Pat Todd, has released his third full length album with The Rankoutsiders entitled "14th & Nowhere…”. Produced and engineered by former Sparks guitarist, Earle Mankey (The Cramps, Concrete Blonde, The Beach Boys, Possum Dixon), the album reflects the diversity of American Rock 'n' Roll, from the opening track “Carryin’ A Torch” to heartfelt laments like "The Ambulance is Here"; love, hope, sex, death, betrayal, renewal- it’s all here. Pat Todd’s songwriting is an road map that leads back to the self- an existential longing to reside in the aesthetics of self-creation. Some call it art, others the blues, soul, country, rock ‘n’ roll- Keith and Mick live there; so do Ronnie, Johnny, Gram, and Hank. These are songs of the road less traveled, so you don’t have to…

“Pat Todd is a true American Original. Raw real and passionate – that’s what I think of when I hear the name, Pat Todd.  The Rankoutsiders project continues his tradition of delivering the goods to the people who need ‘em!  And boy, do we need Mr. Todd and his Rankoutsiders, now more than ever.”

-Eddie Spaghetti, The Supersuckers

"This is my last stand, you know, 'til I'm dead," Todd says without a trace of pathos. "I'm actually more inspired and have a lot more hunger now than I did way back then. And whether I'm any good or not, I always say, that's not the point." He smiles. "I've gotten better. That's the main thing you should just try to do: grow and get better."
